Hillerud Construction, Inc. was established in August 2001 by Trent Hillerud as a way to fill the gap in Jamestown where a full-service construction company was needed. Trent was joined two years later by his brother David as the company’s vice president and they’ve run a safe, efficient and expertly skilled company throughout.

Engineer
Location: Jamestown, ND
Position Duties:
- Supervise site work to create and maintain processes and best practices, standards, and upgrade documentation.
- Negotiate and deal with client/owner in order to set conditions and needs before the start of a construction project.
- Analyze construction plans and book specs to ensure the client needs are met.
- Determine labor requirements for dispatching workers to construction sites.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
- Draft technical shop drawings.
- Evaluate the project outcome and completion along with the owner and follow up a “punch list” if applicable.
- Requisition supplies or materials to complete construction projects.
- Lead and attend weekly meetings with different contractors and stakeholders to follow up status, quality, and lead times of the project.
- Utilize the following tools and technologies: AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
- Supervise 8 subordinates with the following titles: Foreman (2), Carpenter/Laborer (6).
Position Requirements:
- The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related field.
- The qualified candidate must have at least 1 year (12 months) of experience in a project engineer position, a project manager position, or closely related occupation.
- The qualified candidate must also have at least 1 year (12 months) of experience with all of the following: (a) negotiating and dealing with clients/owners in order to set conditions and needs of a construction project; (b) supervising site work to create and maintain processes and best practices, standards, and upgrade documentation; (c) analyzing construction plans and booking specs to ensure the client needs are met; and (d) utilizing the following tools and technologies: AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
- All experience may be gained concurrently.
